It notices what is missing.
A camera over the line and a Jetson Orin Nano beside it check every worker for a hardhat, a hi-vis vest and eye protection.
Edge AI, layer three of five
On the edge, not in the cloud.
Frames are processed on the Jetson beside the conveyor. Nothing leaves the cell to be judged, so a slow or missing internet connection cannot delay a detection.
The PPE model is chosen from published embedded benchmarks first, then checked on the Jetson itself for accuracy and frames per second, and the camera's field of view is checked at the longest working distance.
It advises. It never switches.
A detection does not stop anything by itself. It becomes one input to the risk index. The Jetson then sends a request, and the Delta AS228P decides whether the conveyor runs.
That split is deliberate: the AI is advisory only, and only the PLC drives outputs.
Proof of life on X0.5.
The Jetson drives a 1 Hz square wave into PLC input X0.5 through an opto-isolator. If the edges stop for 2.0 s, the PLC latches a fault and stops the line, whatever the camera last saw.
